As many of you already know, we lost Ellis to pulmonary fibrosis in April of 2009.

I worked with Ellis in the field and knew him for 37 years. It was hard to lose him, both as a freind and a surveyor.

I have committed to keep this part of his board up until at least June of 2011.  I welcome your input and any suggestions and I can be contacted at mlinn (at) compuserve.com.

Askellis.net provides additional support for the high-end surveying products of Leica Geosystems, Inc. - System 1200 and Leica Geo Office. Older information and System 500 items can be found at ellisv.com where I have recently added a site search field to make it easier to find information. 

I started ellisv.com as a hobby site to learn HTML and to make it easier for me to provide assistance in my duties as part of the technical support team for the Leica Geosystems NAFTA area. I don't remember exactly when I started the site, around 2002, but it was before the Leica Advantage site was available. Later I created the askellis.net site to learn CSS. But, there were some things that I wanted to do that had a longer learning curve than I was willing to take on, so I enlisted the help of WriteNowDesign to create the current askellis.net site. Kudos to Pat Fortino for his  excellent work and assistance.

This incarnation of askellis.net is a Joomla content management system site which allows me to easily add content from anywhere. I have also added a blog that allows me to add comments and observations very quickly. I hope to have a quizz section in the near future that will allow you to test your knowledge on various subjects. All new items will be entered at this site, and as time allows, some of the contents of ellisv.com will be transferred here. As that it done, things will be removed from ellisv.com. Items not removed will remain at ellisv.com for legacy information.

Sections include:

   Blog - comments and quick suggestions
   Guides - how-to information
   Regional - pages of more regional interest
   Forum - user-to-user questions and answers
   Sitemap - content pages in outline format

The regional pages currently include Michigan, New York, and Colorado. They deal primarily with information about connecting to the area RTK networks, but also contain other information of interest. Some of the information is specific to the region, but other than IP addresses, etc. they are also good guides to the processes. This site does not require a login to access any information, but I would appreciate it if you did. I will not share this information with anyone. The Forum, however, requires a login to post items, but not to read items.
